Enjoy the art of making your own sourdough bread at home using our local sourdough starter that has been active for almost three years. Our starter has grown and flourished at our 9200ft elevation, through warm summers and down-right freezing winters. In the summers it’s home is on the kitchen counter in natural light and heat. In the winter, it moves from in front of the fireplace, to on top of the propane stove, to a window sill in the sunroom to bathe in solar heat.
You will receive 30 grams, which will allow you to make two batches or have an extra on hand in case you need to start over. It takes about a week to fully hydrate the starter to a good, cultured state. From there you can make your own sourdough and continue feeding it to have as much fresh bread on hand as you wish, and for as long as you wish.
