Instructions
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 13” x 18” baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until smooth and creamy. Add the peanut butter and eggs, then beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.
Stir in the salt and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated. Gradually add the flour and oats, blending until well combined.
Spread the dough evenly across the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the edges begin to brown. Be careful not to overbake; the base should remain slightly soft.
While the base is baking, prepare the topping. In a heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate and peanut butter over a double boiler (hot water bath), stirring frequently. If the mixture is too thick or clumpy, add a small amount of milk, a teaspoon at a time, until smooth and creamy. Avoid using heavy cream, as it may cause the mixture to seize.
Once the peanut butter base has finished baking, spread the chocolate-peanut butter topping evenly over the warm base.
Allow the bars to cool to room temperature. To speed up the cooling process, place them in the refrigerator to let the chocolate solidify.
Enjoy your homemade chocolate peanut butter bars!
