Ingredients
Method
- Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 13” x 18” baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until smooth and creamy. Add the peanut butter and eggs, then beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Stir in the salt and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated. Gradually add the flour and oats, blending until well combined.
- Spread the dough evenly across the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the edges begin to brown. Be careful not to overbake; the base should remain slightly soft.
- While the base is baking, prepare the topping. In a heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate and peanut butter over a double boiler (hot water bath), stirring frequently. If the mixture is too thick or clumpy, add a small amount of milk, a teaspoon at a time, until smooth and creamy. Avoid using heavy cream, as it may cause the mixture to seize.
- Once the peanut butter base has finished baking, spread the chocolate-peanut butter topping evenly over the warm base.
- Allow the bars to cool to room temperature. To speed up the cooling process, place them in the refrigerator to let the chocolate solidify.
- Enjoy your homemade chocolate peanut butter bars!
