Our Mission at Vintage Life Farm

Every dream should have a purpose and that purpose should be far reaching.

Here at Vintage Life Farm, we have a vision for the future, and we are not intimidated by small beginnings. If you’d like to know what our plan and purpose is, keep reading. We’d love to invite any and all to join us on this journey, and hopefully in some way or another, we will make an impact on you and how you choose to live your life from this day forward.

MISSION

  1. Self-sufficiency in our food. This has always been on my heart and more recently, my husband’s, but after 2020 and the issues our country faced with our food supply, we realized how needful this was. We do not want to solely rely on the commercial food industry for our sustenance. Not in the area of supply or origin. We plan on doing as our ancestors did – work with our hands to provide for our family and our community. Raising animals and planting gardens. Cooking from scratch, eating around the table, enjoying our time together as a family and community!
  2. Self-sufficiency in our health. I have never been a fan of the Western model of medicine (treatment instead of prevention/proactive) and I don’t believe any government should tell anyone how to care for their body or the bodies of their family members. Going back, again, to how our ancestors lived, I want to use what God has put on this earth to be our main source for vibrant health – food, herbs, plants, roots, soil and more!
  3. Enriching the lives of those in our local community. Being able to offer education and healthy food, we will create the opportunity to reach out to our local community – individuals, families and businesses. Farm to table is a goal of ours.
  4. Education and inspiration to all who are a part of this process. As a family, we want to offer insight to all we have learned through this process. As a Certified Personal Chef and Certified Fitness Nutrition Coach, and a multi-generational homesteader, I want to pass along information on true and thriving health, along with foods and systems that will help and inspire others to implement positive changes in their own lives.

PHASE 1

  1. Build and grow our animal family (to include what we currently have, chickens and goats, then adding meat and dairy cows, pigs, donkeys, bees, meat chickens – and possibly more!)
  2. Design and build a garden with enough for our family, preservation and to offer to the local community. We live in a very unique location and we have spent the past four years observing, deeply, the weather, wild animal habitation and rotation, snow melt, sun placement in all seasons, etc. These are all vital details we need to consider when starting such a huge project. This spring/summer (2024) we are experimenting with a 25′ x 48′ area to begin growing food to see how successful we will be in this climate.
  3. Continue creating custom and handcrafted skin and body care products, herbal tinctures and herbal mixes and blends, cultured food kits, custom products from local artisans and more. At this time, any food items will only be sold and shipped locally, but our other products are still available from our online market.
  4. Educate our tribe on traditional eating and health, the importance of sustainable living and the freedom of self-sufficiency. We have some ideas on the table and will begin implementing them as the timing lines up.

PHASE 2

  1. Begin design of The Vintage Homestead Experience, which will be a place open to the public to come and learn about living like our ancestors did.
  2. This will include:
    a) a large variety of animals
    b) several gardens including a pollinating garden
    c) a commercial kitchen to hold classes and give demonstrations on the traditional ways of preparing food
    d) an old school house to hold classes and demonstrations on crafts, art, sewing, etc.
    e) a general store that will sell the products we create on the farm, fresh eggs, cultured foods, bread and more!
    f) seasonal festivities
  3. Build The Vintage Homestead Experience and go for it!!!

So here we are now….we have 35 acres, chickens, goats, 2 Livestock Guardian Dogs, and 2 house dogs. We have an online store with our own line of skin care products, herbal blends, herbal tinctures, aprons and digital products. That’s it – but we have drive, determination and discipline. This may seem like a small beginning, but it’s our beginning and we are grateful. There’s a lot of hard work ahead – but time will pass regardless, we might as well be doing something that makes a difference in this life.

I’m excited to check these steps and phases off our list. It will probably change and grow as time goes on, but we are flexible and willing to change and grow as well! My entire family is so excited to start this process and we are all excited to share it and live it with all of YOU! If you ever have any questions, let us know!
